According to the American Automobile Association (AAA), Texas ranks in the top ten list of states with the most hit and run accident deaths. The AAA reported an average of 682,000 crashes have occurred each year since 2006. Almost 65 percent of people killed in hit and runs are pedestrians or cyclists.
A hit-and-run accident by definition is where a person willfully leaves the scene of an accident without providing their contact information or stopping to render aid to someone who was injured in the incident. This selfish act can lead to criminal charges for the at-fault driver.
