Police Searching For Hit And Run Driver On Cockerell Hill Road

It’s difficult to imagine that someone could hit another person with their vehicle and callously drive away without attempting to help that person or to call for help. There is little if anything anyone can do to comfort the grief or give some sense of justice until the person responsible is found.

The Dallas Police Department is still searching for the driver in a fatal hit-and-run crash that happened at the end of last month on Cockerell Hill Road. CBS Local in Dallas-Fort Worth, Channel 11, CBS  reported on its website that the accident occurred on July 31st at approximately 6:30 a.m. as a pedestrian was crossing Cockerell Hill Road near the intersection of Cockerell and Davis Street.

Authorities say that a black 2018 or 2019 SUV struck the pedestrian.  That person died at the scene of the crash. Police have not released any further information about the identity of the pedestrian at the time of the report.

The driver of the vehicle did not stop, nor did they attempt to render aid.

A spokesperson for the Dallas Police Department told reporters that the vehicle likely suffered significant front end damage and will be missing a windshield wiper that was left at the scene of the crash.

Investigators are hoping someone may have witnessed the incident or know the whereabouts of the suspect vehicle and its driver. Anyone with any information regarding the crash to contact the Dallas Vehicle Crimes Unit at (214) 671-0019.
