Two Suspects In A Hit And Run Accident Assault A Man. The Suspects Are Still At Large.
Authorities in Dallas County are asking the public’s help in their search for two suspects who they say are responsible for a hit-and-run crash that happened last week.
Austin’s Fox 7 reported on its website that the incident happened on Wednesday, July 15th. Two men in a black and white sedan rear-ended a maroon pickup truck along Interstate 20, near the Interstate 35 interchange.
According to a statement issued by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department, after crashing into the pickup truck, the men in the sedan continued to drive until their car broke down approximately a quarter of a mile from the accident scene. The driver of the pickup truck continued to pursue the two men.
Eventually, the person whose truck was rear-ended caught up to the two men. When he attempted to exchange insurance information with them, one of the men punched him and knocked him onto the pavement.
A short time later, a gray van pulled up behind the other two vehicles. The two men, along with two children, got into the van and drove away. According to the video footage, it would seem that the person who was assaulted received aid from bystanders.
An eyewitness was able to capture the incident on a dashcam video. DCSO investigators later released the video footage in the hopes that someone may recognize the two men.
Officials are seeking the public’s help in locating the men in the video. Anyone with any information regarding their identities or current whereabouts is asked to contact the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office’s Vehicular Crimes Unit at (214) 589-2343.
