A Stalled Motorist Triggers Multi-Car Crash

Because a car accident can happen anywhere and at any time, it pays to be prepared and to pay attention. Even a case of sudden car trouble on a busy highway or interstate can end up being the underlying reason for a chain reaction accident that can affect even more vehicles and leave more people injured or worse.

NBCDFW reports that a chain reaction crash involving a total of five vehicles has ended in one person being injured.

Officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) say that the crash happened at approximately 8:30 p.m. in the northbound lanes of the Dallas North Tollway when a motorist became stranded, causing traffic on the tollway to slow down.

Another car struck one motorist who had been caught up in the traffic snarl, setting off a chain reaction crash. A total of five vehicles were involved in the crash, including one that caught on fire after impact.

One of the vehicles was a pickup truck that was towing a contractor’s work trailer that ended up lying on its side, shutting down all northbound lanes of the Dallas North Tollway until approximately 2:30 a.m. Sunday, July 11, 2021.

One person was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Officials have not released their identity or any further information about their current condition.

The accident is currently under investigation. So far, no charges have been filed.
