Two Vehicle Motorcycle Crash Leaves One Dead And Another Severely Injured

Weekends are the time to get away from it all and enjoy spending time with friends. For some, that means getting out on a motorcycle and enjoying the open road. Even when motorcyclists take every precaution to remain safe, a tragic accident can still happen.

CBS Local station KTVT-TV in Dallas–Fort Worth reports a two-vehicle crash in Arlington over the weekend between two motorcycles has left one person dead and another person severely injured.

According to a statement issued by the Arlington Police Department, the fatal crash happened at approximately 3:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 13th, in the 3500 block of East Division Street in Arlington.

Investigators say that the motorcyclists were traveling together on East Division Street when the lead motorcyclist began slowing down as they approached an intersection with a red light.  The second motorcyclists rear-ended the first motorcyclist, causing both bikers to be ejected from their vehicles.

Ambulance transported both motorcyclists to an area hospital for treatment.  One motorcyclist died shortly after he arrived at the hospital. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner has identified the victim as 50-year-old Timothy Jackson of Arlington.

The second motorcyclist, whose identity had not been released at the time of the report by local authorities, was also injured. Police have said that his injuries are non-life-threatening, and he is expected to survive.

The accident is still currently under investigation. Investigators with the Arlington Police Department have not said whether speed or impairment played any role in the fatal accident.   Investigators believe that the men were coworkers.
