    Van Zandt County Crash Leaves Two Dead, Two Injured

    KLTV reports that a crash in Van Zandt County has left two people dead and another two hospitalized with injuries.

    According to a statement issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the fatal crash happened at approximately 11:25 a.m. on Friday, June 25, 2021. DPS troopers responded to the scene located approximately six miles north of the town of Wills Point along FM 751 in Van Zandt County.

    DPS officials say that a 37-year-old female driver of a 2021 Chevrolet Spark was traveling in the northbound lane of FM 751 when she attempted to pass a slower northbound vehicle in a marked no-passing zone. The Spark collided head-on with a southbound Ford F-150 pickup truck.

    The driver of the Chevy Spark was transported to Methodist Hospital in Dallas and is currently listed in critical condition. A 33-year-old passenger in the vehicle was taken to Baylor in Dallas, where she later died as the result of injuries she suffered in the crash. A 51-year-old woman also in the car as a passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

    The 74-year-old male driver of the Ford pickup truck was transported via ambulance to Christus Trinity Mother Francis Hospital in Tyler. He is listed in serious condition.

    No other injuries were reported.

    The crash is still currently under investigation by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
