Stone Slab Falls From Truck And Crushes Driver

An accident at a commercial stone company has left one person dead after some stone slipped from a flatbed trailer that was hauling it, crushing the driver.

According to the NBC affiliate station, NBCDFW in Dallas-Fort Worth, the accident happened on the afternoon of September 25th at Infinity Stone in Dallas.

The retailer of stone products is located near Texas 183 and within the 9100 block of Sovereign Row. At approximately 1:45 p.m. the driver of an 18-wheeler who was hauling several stone slabs was outside his vehicle when one or more of the slabs slipped from the flatbed trailer and struck the driver.

Someone at Infinity Stone called 911 to report the accident. Emergency crews from Dallas-Fire Rescue arrived at the scene to remove at least one of the stone slabs that fell on the driver, killing him. Once the stone was removed by firefighters, the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office took custody of the truck driver’s body.

The identity of the driver has been withheld pending notification of family members.

Infinity Stone is a local manufacturer of quartz, granite, and marble products for use in homes and businesses.

Officials are unsure as to what caused the stone to slip and fall off of the truck and onto the driver. Authorities say that the accident is still currently under investigation.
