Driver Crashes Into Crane, Dies
One person is dead after hitting a construction crane with his or her vehicle. The incident happened on February 9, according to this report from Construction Equipment.
The details of the crash are still a bit hazy, as local police still work to figure out exactly what happened and why. This happened in Arlington, Texas at about 2:30 a.m.
A road crew had closed down two lanes of Highway 360. The driver drove his or her car through the temporary barrier that workers had set up to hang road signs, leaving the open lane and driving into the closed lanes. He or she then slammed into the back of a crane, resulting in the driver’s death.
Thankfully, since this happened in the early hours of the morning, no one else was there, so the driver didn’t hit anyone from the road crew.
Accidents like this one, in which a single car, with only one person inside, crashes, killing the driver, happen all the time. Sometimes they happen because of icy roads. Sometimes the driver is distracted by a cell phone or some other device. Sometimes they are driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
In any case, such accidents can often be prevented by careful and alert driving. Thankfully, in this case, no one else was hurt or killed in the accident.
