Many people choose to take the bus as a way to save money, environmental concerns or a number of other reasons. Public transit is considered a great value for the money and a convenient way for people to get around. However, like any other mode of transportation, riding a bus, subway or metro train still carries the risk of getting into an accident.
That is what happened in Fort Worth late Saturday afternoon when one person was critically injured and at least four others were hurt in an accident involving a bus and another vehicle.
According to authorities, the accident happened when a bus carrying an unknown number of people collided with a Jaguar near the intersection of East Berry Street and Riverside Drive.
A MedStar alert indicated one critically injured person with at least four more people being taken to area hospitals in stable condition.
Officials have not released the exact circumstances surrounding the crash. An eyewitness to the accident said that people had to be extracted from the Jaguar.
Injuries from bus accidents can be very serious or even deadly. Even if the driver, the bus company, transportation authority and passengers take every safety precaution, an accident can still happen. No matter how a bus accident occurs, insurers for bus companies like to settle as quickly as possible. Often injured people don’t know what their rights are, especially if they don’t speak to an attorney who is looking out for their interests.
If you or a loved one has been hurt in a bus or any other kind of accident, it is important that you know your rights and that you speak with someone who will protect those rights. Before you speak to an insurance adjuster or sign a statement, contact a Dallas injury accident attorney.
