Woman Arrested After Fatal Head-On Crash Near Hawkins
A man is dead and a woman is arrested after a three-car crash on Interstate 10 near Hawkins, Texas, according to a report from KFOXTV.
A woman driving a Ford Edge on the interstate lost control of her vehicle, driving head-on into oncoming traffic. This caused her to hit two different vehicles. As a result of this accident, which happened last Sunday in the early morning hours, a man lost his life.
The woman, identified as Deborah Sanchez, was later arrested and taken to the El Paso County Detention Facility on a charge of intoxication manslaughter.
When such tragedies occur, we have to ask ourselves who is to blame. It’s easy to point a finger at the one person that chose to drink and drive, but the truth is much larger in scope and more difficult to prosecute. Countless people drink and drive every night in the state of Texas alone. The vast majority don’t get caught and don’t cause an accident.
And so the problem continues to get worse. We have a public responsibility to change our culture, a culture that turns the other way when someone drives home drunk until that person causes an accident or is caught by the police.
In the meantime, the family of the victim grieves, and both medical bills and property damage stay behind after the accident to haunt those involved.
