Warrant Issued For Wichita Falls Ambulance Theft Case

The Times Record News reports a warrant has been issued in relation to an ambulance theft in Wichita Falls.

The warrant alleges that a 2020 Chevrolet ambulance was stolen on April 29 from Trans Star Ambulance on Call Field Road. Employees at the building said they saw a man walking around outside the building before he jumped into an ambulance and drove away. The ambulance was parked with the keys inside.

Police found the ambulance later after it was involved in a hit and run accident on Burkburnett Road. It was abandoned on U.S. 287 north of Highway 240 after totalling it in a culvert.

The police were able to catch up with the alleged thief. Body cams caught audio of the suspect saying he stole the ambulance because the keys were left in it multiple times. The man was taken to the hospital for treatment, then arrested and charged with theft.

It’s quite bold to steal something as visible as an ambulance, but leaving the keys inside was irresponsible. We hope the ambulance company learns its lesson here. There was no information in the report about the outcome of the hit and run accident. We hope that everyone in that crash recovers fully and they pursue compensation.
