Truck Strikes Express Lane Barrier, Causes Chain Reaction Crash
If you were wondering why traffic was so bad this morning on I-35, we have an answer for you. CBS reported that a fatal accident happened in Carrollton.
The southbound lanes of the interstate were closed by police at Sandy Lake Road just after 6:00 a.m. A pickup truck was trying to enter the Express Lane and missed the entrance. It struck a barrier. When the driver got out to inspect the damage, a second vehicle hit the truck and pushed into the lanes.
Tragically, a motorcycle could not dodge the protruding pickup truck and crashed. The rider was killed at the scene. The other two drivers also sustained injuries and went to the hospital, but it is believed their injuries are non-life-threatening.
Police believe that intoxication was not a factor in the crash, but toxicology tests are sure to be performed at the hospital.
We wish to extend our condolences to the family of the slain motorcycle rider, and we hope that the injured people recover fully. An accident on the interstate always creates unexpected conditions that have ripple effects, whether it’s just a traffic jam from onlookers or something more serious like this.
It’s all too easy to fall into an autopilot mode on your morning commute. Keep a sharp eye out for differences during your commute. You could save your life.
