Four Killed In Saturday Morning Crash In Dallas

Some who have gone through a driver’s ed course have reported being exposed to graphic images of car accidents and the like. For what purpose? To impress on the minds of these soon-to-be-new-drivers that the roads are full of possible dangers, that even a momentary loss of concentration can lead to tragedy. Many driving students come away from seeing those pictures with a new appreciation for traffic laws and safe driving practices.

And yet how long does this appreciation last? How long until these same new drivers are cruising the streets without a seat belt? How long until they are driving distracted or under the influence, perhaps depending on cruise control to drive for them as they worry about the radio, their smartphones, or the kids in the back seat?
Such driving can lead to lethal accidents, which is well illustrated by a crash that left four dead in Texas last week.

According to this Yahoo! report, on Saturday morning, a woman crashed into the back of a vehicle on a highway in Dallas. The result? Two adults and two children in the struck vehicle lost their lives!
Could this accident have been prevented? Yes! Distracted driving and unsafe driving habits lead to accidents like this one every day. Perhaps a less was learned on Saturday, but at what cost? Perhaps the rest of us can learn from these kinds of mistakes as well, saving our lives or the lives of our neighbors or loved ones.
