Teenager Wrecks Purple Pagini Worth $3.4 Million
In a scene that could have come straight out of the movie Ferris Buehler’s Day Off, YouTuber Gage Gillean managed to wreck his father’s one-of-a-kind sports car valued at some $3.4 million.
CarBuzz.com reports that the accident happened on the night of Tuesday, November 17, when the 17-year-old lost control of his father’s purple Pagani Huayra Roadster while driving along a road in Dallas. The car was said to have clipped a curb before crashing head-on into a tree.
The teen claims that the crash was due to low tire pressure, arguing that he was driving under 40 miles per hour.
Gage Gillean and an unidentified passenger were said to have suffered only minor injuries in the crash.
Video and photographs of the crashed vehicle show substantial damage to the car. The hood and front end of the Pagani are crumpled, the front wheels are missing, the driver’s side door was torn off, airbags are shown to have deployed, and debris from the vehicle can be seen on the sides of the road.
Pagani only makes an estimated 30 cars every year, and each car is built by hand. While the vehicle’s damage may look like a total loss to most observers, some car industry experts believe that it may be possible to save this work of art on wheels.
In the meantime, the Gillean’s have other vehicles they can drive such as a Lamborghini Urus, a McLaren Senna, a Ferrari, and a Rolls Royce Dawn.
