SUV Crashes Into Go-Cart, Kills Two Children

Two children died, and an additional four more children were injured after an SUV collided with the go-cart they were riding in on Saturday.

ABC affiliate WFAA reported that the tragic crash happened at approximately 12:32 p.m. on November 21st in the town of College Mound in Kaufman County.

According to a tweet released via the College Mound Fire Department on Twitter, firefighters received a call from the Kaufman Fire Department to assist at the crash site. The crash happened at the intersection of FM 2727 and County Road 167.

Emergency crews, including officers from the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), the Kaufman Police Department, KSO Constables, Kaufman Emergency Management Services, helicopters from Careflight and Flight For Life, as well as multiple ambulances responded to the scene of the accident.

One 7-year- old child was declared dead at the accident scene, and five others were seriously injured. Two children were airlifted to an area hospital for treatment, while three other children were taken to the hospital via ambulance. Sadly, one other child passed away on Sunday.

DPS investigators say that all six children, ranging from 7 -12 years of age, were on board the go-cart. They were traveling westbound on County Road 167 when they collided with an SUV, which was traveling southbound on FM 2727.

The driver of the SUV was not injured in the crash. Law enforcement officials told ABC the driver remained at the scene and fully cooperated with authorities.

So far, no charges have been filed against the driver.

No names had been released at the time of the report.

The accident is currently under investigation.
