Seven Injured After Lake Brownwood Boat Crashes Into Jetty

Crashes in boats are extremely dangerous. It’s rare for people to wear seatbelts when they’re on a boat, and many people stand up in them. When a wreck happens, people get thrown hard. In Brownwood, Texas, an early morning boat crash sent seven people to the hospital yesterday. San Angelo Live reports.

The accident happened just after midnight on Lake Brownwood. A boat crashed into a concrete jetty and gave head injuries and cuts to all of the occupants. They were visiting from the Panhandle. Three of the people had to leave the scene via an air ambulance.

The current condition of the injured people is unknown, but this is an extremely serious accident. The police are retaining the boat for inspection and the occupants are being tested for alcohol consumption to see if that was a factor.

Docking a boat late at night is dangerous enough. Jetties are stone structures that thrust out into the water. If the boat crashed into the end of it, it would be like running aground and throw everyone off of their feet. We hope that alcohol wasn’t a factor, and that the driver of the boat had insurance to help cover the injuries of his passengers. Otherwise, he may be facing numerous lawsuits from them.
