Police Use Grim Reminder To Tell Public About Seat Belt Safety
It’s a well-known fact that seat belts save lives. According to the United States Department of Transportation, when used correctly, seat belts can prevent serious injury and fatalities. Because seatbelt use is as high as 90.1%, an estimated 14,668 lives are saved annually. Almost 48% of all vehicle fatalities were the direct result of not wearing a seatbelt.
In an article which appeared on the NBC affiliate website in Dallas – Fort Worth, Grand Prairie Police are using a photograph of an automobile accident that happened earlier this month as a sobering reminder to drivers the importance of wearing a seatbelt.
The photo, showing what remains of a black sedan which was split in half, has been shared across social media. The young woman who was driving the vehicle is alive because she wore a seatbelt.
Authorities say that the accident happened on Sunday, December 16, 2018 at 9:45 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 161 and Pioneer Parkway. Grand Prairie Police released a Tweet on Twitter stating, “Buckling up is your best bet to prevent serious injury or death in a crash.”
As you drive home from the holidays this season, remember to buckle up. Don’t cast a shadow of tragedy over this happy time. This is a message from Dallas Car Accident Laywers
