Person Charged In Boating Accident That Kills One
A 28-year-old man has been charged with intoxication assault after the boat he was driving struck a towable tube with a woman inside.
CBS Local reported that the accident happened on Saturday, September 26th, when emergency crews received a call from Lake Granbury near De Cordova Bend Country Club about an accident involving a boat and a woman on a towable inter-tube.
Emergency crews and game wardens for the Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife arrived at the scene after they say the boat driver, Dylan Cooper Cohen, struck the tube carrying the woman.
Game wardens arrested Cohen on suspicion of operating the boat while under the influence of alcohol.
On Monday, Cohen was charged with intoxication assault. The judge in the case has set Cohen’s bond at $15,000.
Crews continued to search for the missing woman throughout the weekend. KRLD News Radio 1080 released a report on Wednesday that the young woman’s body was eventually found on Tuesday, September 29th. She has been identified as 24-year-old Chase Makenzie Coleman, of Mabank.
Parks and Wildlife said in a statement that the fatal boating accident is still under investigation. Officials in Hood County have not said if Cohen faces additional charges or if the charges against him are likely to be upgraded to intoxication manslaughter.
