Man Killed In I-35 Crash In La Porte
WSBT.com reported on an accident that happened near I-35 north of La Porte. On April 26, La Porte deputies were summoned to a personal injury crash involving two vehicles. It was a head-on collision.
According to the press release, a red 2015 Volkswagen was going north on I-35 in the left lane. For reasons unknown, the driver drove across the center divider and ended up in the opposite lanes. The Volkswagen crashed into a Dodge pickup pulling a trailer head-on and killed the Volkswagen driver at the scene.
The driver of the Dodge had to be cut out of his vehicle and complained of pain after he was released. He went to the hospital for a checkup. There has been no indication that either driver was intoxicated at the time of the crash. Toxicology reports are pending.
One of the most common reasons for a head-on crash is intoxication, but it’s not the only reason. Witness testimony in the article does not suggest that the dead victim was driving recklessly, only that the driver was in the left lane and crossed over the center line.
Our condolences go out to the family of the victims. We hope the police find out what happened and that the injured drive can get adequate compensation for his injuries.
