    Head-On Collision On Highway 171

Even when someone takes every precaution possible to stay safe, an accident can still happen. Even when using evasive actions, sometimes even that is not good enough. That seems to have been the case earlier this month when five people were left injured and ended up hospitalized after a head-on crash outside Cresson.

According to a story appearing on the NBC affiliate station in Dallas-Fort Worth, a truck and a Volkswagen Jetta collided head-on June 8th at approximately 10:30 p.m. on State Highway 171 and S. Cook Street. Both drivers are blaming the other driver as having crossed the center lane and into their own. Both drivers also claim that they had attempted to make a quick left turn in order to avoid the accident. Investigators have not yet determined which vehicle crossed the center line and caused the crash.

Emergency crews removed the 38-year old driver of the pickup truck and transported him to an area hospital in critical condition. The 36-year-old driver of the Jetta along with a 38-year old woman and her two boys, aged 13 and 16, were also transported to the hospital, also in critical condition.

Authorities have not released any other information on the crash. The accident is still under investigation.
