    Good Samaritan Killed In Crash

There is a saying that no good deed goes unpunished. That saying turned quite literal at a crash that happened recently. CBS in Dallas talked about the tragic story.

A vehicle was traveling just before 11 PM on the Sam Rayburn Tollway. The car smashed into a concrete barrier on the right side of the road. The impact flung the car across all of the lanes and into the center median.

A second vehicle saw the crash and stopped to help by pulling over on the right shoulder. As the driver was getting out, a third vehicle hit and killed him. Police did arrive on the scene and got medical help for the people in all three vehicles. No charges have been filed thus far.

It is a brave thing to stop and help the injured after a crash and there are laws that protect people in such circumstances. However, you must be extremely careful when doing this. Other drivers might not be paying attention. Always look for oncoming traffic before exiting a vehicle on a highway or interstate. If possible, pull over as far as you can before exiting the vehicle. Also, call the police as soon as possible. Vehicle shoulders are used as emergency lanes by police and ambulances. They need to know your car is there. Plus, they can help you assist the injured.
