Former Florida Congressman Injured In Crash Near Austin

A former Congressman was injured in a motorcycle crash in Texas. New Country 103.1 reported on the crash.

Former U.S. Representative Allen West was injured in a motorcycle accident returning from a rally in Austin. West moved to Texas in 2013 after leaving Congress in Florida.

West was attending the rally to show support for reopening the state. He is also running for chair of the Republican Party of Texas.

His wife wrote about the accident on Facebook to say that West’s motorcycle was struck just outside of Waco. He is in stable condition, but suffered a concussion, broken bones, and multiple cuts.

The former Congressman says that he is thankful to be alive and believes his survival is due to the grace of God.

Even if you are wearing full safety gear, you can still get injured in a bike crash. Helmets and leather protect you from the worst injuries, but a bike crash can still hurt or cause concussion.

Still, it’s much better than the alternative! Thousands of people die in motorcycle crashes every year because of inadequate safety gear or poor riding habits. If you want to ride, get the gear and the training. Crashing a motorcycle is often a matter of when, not if.
