A graduate of Arlington Sam Houston High School has died in Abilene after being struck by an automobile. Taylor Huff, 21, who was a senior wide receiver on the Hardin-Simmons University football team, was struck and killed by a car. The circumstances of the accident remain under investigation.
Hardin-Simmons University President Dr. Lanny Hall said in a written statement, “”We were saddened to learn of Taylor Huff’s death. We are praying for God to comfort his family and friends during this difficult time.”
Huff had been an exercise science major at Hardin-Simmons.
Members of the college team were summoned to meet on Sunday afternoon for a briefing about Huff’s death. Head coach Jesse Burleson said Huff had overcome real adversity to achieve his goals.
“He was extremely unselfish and caring,” Burleson said in a statement. “We are so proud he is a part of our program. It is a sad day to be a Cowboy, we are hurting but we will get through this together.”
