Drunk Driver That Crashed Into Police Officer And Killed Him Tried To Dump Drugs Before Arrest
New light has been shed on the horrendous crash that took the life of a 27-year-old police officer on the night of Valentine’s Day, according to this report from Fox 4 News.
The officer was working the scene of another accident on Highway 75 near Walnut Hill Lane. Road flares were set up to warn other motorists to slow down and change lanes. Witnesses said Philip Marby drove through those flares at a high rate of speed. His car then struck the police vehicle, knocking it into the police officer that was on the other side of it. The officer did not survive this collision.
Philip Marby was charged with intoxication manslaughter for the death of the officer. The passenger in Marby’s car admitted that they’d been drinking. Marby was found to be intoxicated at the time of the crash.
Police noticed Marby throwing a baggie of what appeared to be drugs into the grass just before he was arrested. When questioned about the baggie, he allegedly said, “It’s just weed, man. It’s just weed.” Of course, the baggie was recovered and is now evidence.
This is just more bad news to pile on for Marby, who’s already facing major charges in addition to the possession of drugs.
