Drunk Driver Kills Student Athlete, Tears Car In Half
A drunk driver is blamed for killing a student-athlete from DeSoto High School and injuring two others after he crashed his Hummer into a BMW. CBS reported on the tragic accident.
A witness reported that it was the worst crash they had ever seen. The force from the collision split the BMW in half and killed the athlete at the scene. The driver of the Hummer wasn’t seriously injured. Police arrested the driver for DWI.
The student was in town visiting family in Houston when the accident happened. The current condition of the other two people in the car is unknown.
Yet again, we have a story of someone dying because of a drunk driver. Drunk driving kills thousands of people each year and injures tens of thousands more. Alcohol makes it hard to make judgments and react to changes on the road. At high doses, it can blur your vision and cause vertigo. Some find that fun when they’re at home but it’s deadly on the roadway.
You should know that even if you are below the legal limit, if you drive like you’re drunk you can still be charged with a crime, as well as face a lawsuit from the victims of your crash. Think about what it would be like to face them in court before you consider drinking and driving.
