Anna Police Issue Warrant For Tennessee Man After He Flees During Traffic Stop

Whenever someone sees the flash of red and blue lights in their rearview mirror, there can be a sense of panic. The urge to fight or to fly can be a strong one.To stay out of more serious trouble, it’s better to fully cooperate with law enforcement officers or face even more problems when pulled over at a traffic stop.

According to a recent report appearing on the NBCDFW website, Police in Anna have issued a warrant for the arrest of a Tennessee man who fled the scene after a traffic stop by officers on Sunday morning.

A spokesperson for the Anna Police Department said in a statement that officers initiated the traffic stop on Sunday, June 20, 2021, at approximately 6:45 a.m. Officers had observed the vehicle’s driver make a minor traffic violation and pulled the driver over in a truck stop parking area.

Released body cam footage from the officers shows 21-year-old Joshua Draine being ordered several times by one officer to turn around. The video shows a second Anna Police officer push Draine onto the hood of his vehicle. Draine is then shown attempting to flee and pushes the officer away before the officer grabs his shirt.

One of the officers at the scene attempted to use a taser on Draine, who then ran to another vehicle leading police on a chase that ended a short time later along County Road 937 and Farm-to-Market Road 455 when Draine crashed the stolen car.

Draine then fled the scene on foot. After a search of the surrounding area, officers were unable to locate him.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Draine, listed as a Memphis resident, Tennessee. He faces charges including assault on a police officer, evading arrest, and other traffic-related charges.
