Semi Deliberately Crashes Into Car To Stop Police Chase
We’ve written in the past about police chases that ended in tragic crashes, but this is the first one that we can recall where a bystander in a truck crashed into a fleeing suspect to stop them. KNUE has the story.
According to reports from multiple news sources, the suspect began a chase that caused multiple near collisions, ran through several red lights, and even drove onto sidewalks. A semi-truck driver saw the chase and learned through radio that the suspect may have been involved in a murder.
Later, the truck driver saw the suspect cut through a parking lot to elude police. That’s when he took action. Video on the linked news site shows the driver flooring his truck and causing the crash. The driver stated to the news media that his truck had a chance of blocking off the path of the police had he not taken action.
The driver’s truck was totaled in the crash, but he felt that stopping the suspect before he killed someone else due to reckless driving was worth it.
Obviously, this was an extremely risky move by the truck driver and the legality is questionable for a member of the public do to it. From the report, no one seems to have been injured.
