Accident At Glen Garden And Riverside Drive Causes Car Fire, Drivers Saved
We rely on the men and women of law enforcement to protect and to serve our communities. At times, they are called upon to know what to do and to act quickly in a time of crisis. Last week, two Fort Worth police officers who rescued motorists from a fiery crash on Wednesday, August 14th are being hailed as heroes in just such a crisis.
The NBC affiliate in Dallas-Fort Worth reports that that the accident happened that morning at the intersection of Glen Garden and Riverside Drive when two vehicles collided, with one of the two cars involved in the crash catching fire.
Both of the plainclothes officers rushed to pull the driver inside the burning vehicle safely away from the crash and then returned to rescue the driver of the second vehicle.
The officers stayed with the crash victims until emergency crews could arrive on the scene. Authorities have not released their identities or their current conditions.
The Fort Worth Police Department commended the action of the two unidentified undercover officers in a statement:
“Based on the quick action of these officers, it is apparent that they saved the lives of these two citizens quickly, preventing serious injury or death from the fiery collision.”
The accident was captured on traffic cameras owned by the City of Fort Worth and was released on NBC’s website. While the traffic footage clearly shows one of the two vehicles running a red light, causing the accident, but so far, authorities have not indicated whether charges are pending in the crash.
