4 Killed On FM 51 North Of Springtown
NBC 5 in Dallas-Fort Worth has reported on a crash that killed four people along Farm-To-Market Road 51 north of Springtown, located about 25 miles north of Fort Worth.
The two-vehicle crash happened yesterday around 12:45 p.m. two miles north of the Texas 199 intersection, according to Springtown police. The vehicles involved were pickup trucks.
It was a violent crash. Three of the four people in the crash were killed at the scene. The last one died after arriving at Texas Health Harris Methodist Azle Hospital.
The news report goes on to state that this is the latest in a string of multiple fatality crashes on two-lane highways in Texas. A similar case that got national coverage involved the death of two missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in North Texas. They were killed in a head-on crash in Denton. In the same town last Sunday, two children and a young woman were killed in another head-on crash on U.S. Highway 380.
Our sincere condolences go out to the families of the slain victims, and we urge local legislatures to investigate why these crashes are happening so they can improve the roads. Head-on crashes on these small roads usually happen because someone tries to pass and doesn’t make it over in time.
