11 Vehicle Accident Near Grapevine
Freeways and Interstate highways offer a quick way for motorists to commute and get from the suburbs into the city and back again. Most daily commutes are done every day without an incident. There is always a chance, however, that an accident can happen at any time. With the high numbers of vehicles on these highways traveling at higher rates of speed than on they would on most other roadways, the chance of an accident happening is significantly higher.
That seems to be what happened when a chain reaction crash happened in the southbound lanes of the 121 near 635 on Wednesday morning. The accident involved 11 vehicles and left five people injured.
The CBS Local affiliate station in Dallas – Fort Worth reported on their website that the crash happened at approximately at 9:15 a.m. at Highway 121 near Grapevine.
Emergency crews from the Grapevine Fire Department arrived on the scene where the 11-car pile-up happened. Five people were taken to area hospitals for minor, non-life-threatening injuries. A spokesperson for the Grapevine Police Department later gave an updated statement stating that only two people had been injured in the multi-car crash.
The highway was reopened just an hour later.
The accident is still currently under investigation. So far no other information has been released in connection to the case.
