Young Girl Dies After Drunk Driver Runs Stoplight In Garland

A police chase involving an allegedly intoxicated teen driver ended in a crash that killed a two-year-old girl in Garland last Saturday. CBS reported on the tragedy.

Around 10:30 PM, officers tried to pull over a driver that was speeding and running red lights on Broadway Boulevard. The driver refused to stop and a chase started up I-635. Officers observed that the driver had his lights shut off. Eventually, they called off the chase for safety reasons, but a police helicopter kept following the vehicle.

The driver got off onto Northwest Highway and ran another red light at Shiloh Road. That’s when he crashed into the car carrying the child. She was ejected in the car and died at the hospital. Three others in the vehicle, including a young boy, sustained serious injuries.

The suspect and his passenger ran away from the scene but were caught by police. The driver already had a warrant for his arrest for a probation violation. Now he faces numerous other charges including intoxication manslaughter. His passenger was also charged with evading arrest.

We hope that the injured people pull through their injuries and that the suspect is brought to justice. He has a lot to answer for. We want to also remind readers to never drink and drive.
