Third Person Dies After Head-On Collision
KSWO reports that a third person died after a three-vehicle crash on Friday Evening in Stephens County, Oklahoma.
According to a statement released by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the multi-fatality crash happened on the evening of Friday, June 18, 2021, on U.S. Highway 81 near Refinery Road just south of Duncan, Oklahoma.
Investigators say a northbound 2006 Mini Cooper being driven by a 20-year-old from Denton, Texas, attempted to pass another slower northbound vehicle and collided head-on with another car. A third vehicle was involved in the crash.
The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said that one driver was declared dead at the scene while the two other drivers and a passenger inside the Mini Cooper were transported to an area hospital for treatment.
According to the OHP’s initial report, the passenger in the Mini Cooper was reported to have been treated and released a short time after arrival at the medical center. Later, officials revealed that the passenger had died due to the injuries they suffered in the crash.
They airlifted two of the drivers involved in the crash to Oklahoma City Hospital. Unfortunately, one of the drivers died on Tuesday, June 22.
The accident is still currently under investigation. However, so far, intoxication by alcohol or drugs has not been ruled out.
