Suspected Drunk Driver Crashes Into Dallas Police Car
It might sound like the scene out of a comedy movie, but it’s no laughing matter for the officers who were involved, nor for the suspected drunk driver. CBS reports.
On early Saturday morning, two officers from Dallas were injured after a suspected DWI driver crashed into their patrol car.
The crash happened just after midnight on Westmoreland Road and Camp Wisdom Road. The suspect ran a red light and crashed into the side of the patrol car. That made the patrol car hit a third vehicle with three others inside. Fortunately for those three, they were not injured.
However, the officers had to go to the hospital for treatment for minor injuries. The responsible driver was arrested for DWI.
Drunk driving is no laughing matter. It’s fortunate that the injuries were as minor as they were. Had the drunk driver been speeding faster, it could have become a serious traged. Every year, thousands of people are injured and killed by drunk drivers. These accidents are completely preventable.
If you plan on drinking, make arrangements first about how you will get home. Have a rideshare, taxi, or designated driver on standby before you take your first drink. This single step can save your life and the lives of others, and you still get to enjoy alcohol afterward.
