Pedestrian Steps Into Service Road, Struck And Killed By Car
When a pedestrian acts in an unpredictable way, they put themselves and drivers at risk. Tht’s what seems to have happened in this story from WFAA about a pedestrian fatality.
An off-duty officer struck and killed a pedestrian that stepped out in front of his vehicle on the Lyndon B. Johnson Freeway Service Road. The crash happened around 10 p.m.
The officer was in his personal vehicle when the crash happened. He allegedly hit the pedestrian and killed him. The officer was on his way home at the time and was uninjured in the crash. The investigation is continuing.
The report does not say if the pedestrian was trying to cross at a crosswalk or if they were going against the light. These questions are important for determining liability. If a pedestrian acted against the road rules, they open themselves up to accidents.
If a pedestrian is even partially at fault, it can significantly reduce the amount of possible compensation. An experienced personal injury attorney can tell you your chances.
