Local High School Mentor Remembered After Car Crash

We wish to honor a local community hero who tragically lost her life in a car accident in DeSoto. Fox 4 reported on the remembrance of Hanan Ali-Lacy.

Hanan was a high school mentor working for the Dallas Independent School District. She was part of a non-profit program that helped many students get into college. The students and staff at Kimball High School are planning to launch balloons in memory of her.

According to the police report, Ali-Lacy was turning onto Pleasant Run Road from Ray Andra Drive when she got t-boned by a teen driver. A passenger in the teen’s car said that the driver put the car into sport mode and started speeding.

Tamika Stevenson says Ali-Lacy had just dropped off a graduation gift to her nephew before the crash.

“She was like a sister to me. So, I had just gotten off the phone with her probably 20-30 minutes prior,” she said. “Her life revolves around making sure kids got to college, making sure they were well taken care of. She had a personal connection with every student and not just them, their families as well.”

We wish to extend our condolences as well, and we hope that others are inspired by her example and help those around them.

As for the teen driver, he was hospitalized and will probably face charges.
