FedEx Driver Dies After Truck Falls From I-345 In Dallas
Just as an airline pilot is responsible for the lives of all those in his plane, meaning he or she must be fully aware and focused at all times, so to tractor-trailer drivers have a heavy responsibility on the road. While it is true that truckers often times drive alone, this doesn’t mean that other lives are not on the line. When a tractor-trailer is involved in an accident, others can be injured or killed as a result.
In a recent crash here in Dallas, an 18-wheeler was involved in an accident. Thankfully, no other vehicle or person was involved. Tragically, the driver of the FedEx truck and trailer was pronounced dead at the scene. This large vehicle hit the guard rail and fell from the I-345 near downtown Dallas at about 5:30 Saturday morning, according to this report from WFAA Channel 8.
Authorities are still investigating what exactly caused this accident. We do know that truck drivers are often over-worked, causing them to drive while sleep deprived. This, however, is a generalization and we do not know the particular situation of the unnamed driver of this FedEx truck, nor do we know the scheduling standards of FedEx in general.
FedEx released a statement saying, in part: “Safety is our highest priority and we are cooperating fully with the investigating authorities at this time.”
