DART And City Of Dallas Deliver Care Packages
Residents in nursing homes sometimes rely on care packages for some of their needs. The City of Dallas and DART teamed up to help deliver packages to homes in the midst of the coronavirus outbreak. CBSDFW.com reports.
This week, the partnership is delivering 850 care packages to residents. DART has volunteered six buses and drivers to deliver them while the City of Dallas prepared the packages and took them into the homes.
In a press release statement officials said, “During the COVID-19 epidemic, DART continues to work closely with each of the 13 cities in its service area, as well as with numerous organizations, to leverage currently available assets and capabilities in support of North Texas.”
The recipients of the packages are members of the Dallas Park and Recreation Active Senior Adult Program. This program operates three senior centers and 40 recreational centers in Dallas for senior citizens.
We hope that the senior citizens can make use of the packages. We all need to lend an extra helping hand during this time. More states are locking down every day to keep the coronavirus from spreading further, and that puts many of our most vulnerable citizens at risk. Thankfully, first responders are still out there protecting the public.
