Family Rescued In Truck Fire Crash In Pleasant Grove

A Dallas family was saved in the nick of time by witnesses to a fiery crash. CBS reported on the dramatic incident.

According to the report, the accident happened at Lake June and Holcomb Road in Pleasant Grove. A speeding teen driver ran a red light and struck a truck carrying a family. The impact set the truck on fire with the family inside.

Luckily, witnesses at the intersection were able to rescue the family, including a one-year-old. The infant had no injuries, but the truck driver and the passenger had to be taken to the hospital for treatment.

The speeding driver was not so lucky. He is in critical condition with extensive burns on his body. He was taken to Parkland Hospital.

Fire in a crash is rare, but it can happen and it can get dangerous quickly. The first thing to do is to get away from the vehicle as soon as possible. Smoke inhalation can kill you before the flames do.

Once you are out of the vehicle, get at least 100 feet away. In the rare event of a car explosion, this will help you avoid the worst of the effects and see any debris coming your way. Then call the police as usual to report the incident.
