Crash At Intersection Pushes Vehicle Into Stone Wall, Driver Killed

Authorities have finally released the identity of a woman killed in an accident in South Austin last month.  Officials say it was the 77th of 82 fatal crashes in the city so far this year.

Patch.com reports that the fatal crash happened on Saturday, November 7th, at the intersection of South 1st Street and Annie Street just after 3:00 p.m.

Investigators say that a gray 2021 Toyota Tundra was traveling southbound on 1st Street while a Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling westbound on Annie Street.  The two vehicles collided.  After the initial collision, the Dodge Ram struck a stone retaining wall which caused the vehicle to roll until it came to rest on its roof.

So far, the investigation was unable to determine which vehicle ran the stoplight.

Austin Police said in an earlier statement that the occupants of the Toyota and the Dodge were transported to area hospitals for treatment of injuries they suffered in the crash.

One of the occupants of the Dodge Ram, 58-year-old Linda Cadena, was taken to Dell Seton Medical Center. She died at the hospital a short time later due to injuries she suffered in the crash.

The accident is still currently under investigation. Anyone with information is being asked to contact Austin detectives at (512) 974-6935.  Those who wish to remain anonymous may also submit tips via The Austin Police Department’s mobile app, which is available for iOS or Android devices.
