Child Injured in School Bus Crash With Two Other Vehicles
Being a parent is something that always seems to be filled with worry. It can be a parent’s worst nightmare to receive a call from the school telling them that their child has been hurt in an accident.
That’s exactly what happened to the parents of one child who had to be taken to the hospital after a crash involving a school bus and two other vehicles happened early Friday morning.
According to a story that was featured on the DFW CBS Local station website, the accident happened at approximately 7:30 a.m. near the intersection of Elston Drive and Greenspan Avenue in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas.
Authorities state that according to eyewitnesses of the accident, a gray sedan slammed into a blue SUV. The force of impact of the initial crash sent the larger vehicle into the school bus. It is believed that the woman who was driving the gray sedan fell asleep behind the wheel of her vehicle.
According to an official with the Dallas Police Department, one child had been aboard the school bus at the time of the accident along with the bus driver. Both the driver and the child were transported as a precaution to Charlton Methodist Hospital to be checked out. Both the driver and the child are expected to be ok.
No further information has been released regarding the drivers or any passengers in the two other vehicles that were involved in the crash.
When a child is involved in an accident, it can be especially grueling, not only for the child but also for their parents. It’s never easy to relinquish the care and well-being of a loved one to someone else. Accidents can go beyond physical trauma and can affect someone on an emotional or psychological level long after any visible injuries have healed.
Drivers who get behind the wheel without having had enough sleep pose as much a danger to others as those who choose to drink and drive.
