A Teenager Was Arrested After Crashing Into Police Vehicle

There are several good reasons why insurance rates for teen drivers are higher than for other motorists.  Even after successfully obtaining a driver’s license, young drivers are more inexperienced about the road’s potential hazards. Teen drivers are also more prone to impulsive behavior behind the wheel and are more likely than other motorists to get into an accident.

NBCDFW reports that a teen driver has been arrested after crashing his vehicle into a Fort Worth Police officer’s cruiser and sending that officer to the hospital on Wednesday night.

The officer’s injuries were non-life-threatening.  She was released from the hospital on Thursday morning and is expected to be ok.

In a statement, the Fort Worth Police Department said that the crash happened just south of Highway 287 at the intersection of Erath Street and Martin Street at approximately 8:00 p.m. Police say that a teen was behind the wheel of a pickup truck that crashed into a patrol cruiser.

The force of the impact sent the police vehicle through a fence and into a retaining wall before it came to a stop in the yard of a nearby residence.

Authorities say that the teen attempted to flee the accident scene on foot but was found and taken into custody.  His identity was not released at the time of the report.

So far, police have not said whether the teen will be facing charges for the incident.
