A Woman Rescued From A Flaming Vehicle On Interstate 30
A woman had to be pulled from a burning vehicle, and a second person is injured after a two-vehicle crash along Interstate 30 on Sunday morning.
According to the report appearing on the NBCDFW website, the accident happened just before 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, August 23rd, in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 30 near the President George Bush Turnpike exit ramp.
Eyewitnesses told police detectives that the driver of the Toyota Camry had been in the second to the left lane of the Interstate when she lost control of her vehicle, striking a concrete barrier, a light pole, and then veered back onto the roadway.
The Toyota ended up in another lane of the Interstate, disabled with no lights.
A Good Samaritan who witnessed the crash attempted to divert traffic using the light of his smartphone but was unable to flag down the Hyundai that collided with the Toyota in time.
The force of the impact caused the Toyota to burst into flame.
According to a statement issued by the Dallas Police Department, officers were called to the scene of the two-vehicle crash between a black Toyota Camry and a black Hyundai Sonata. The Camry was on fire by the time police arrived.
Inside the burning vehicle, police found an unconscious woman. Officers were able to extricate the woman from the burning vehicle and pull her to safety.
Both the driver of the Toyota and a passenger inside the Hyundai were taken to an area hospital for treatment. Officials have not released the identities and current condition of the two people who were hurt in the crash. The driver of the Hyundai was treated at the scene and released.
The accident is currently under investigation. The police have not said whether impairment may have played any role in the accident.
