A Second DUI Driver Rammed Into A Police Cruiser As Officers Were Arresting A DUI Suspect

There is nothing wrong with having a drink to unwind and relax or when spending time with friends. Law enforcement and safety experts alike have advised that if you are going to drink, it’s best to do so when you are safe at home.

If you are out with friends, always go with a designated driver rather than drive while under the influence of alcohol. If you simply are not able to find a friend to be your designated driver on your night out, consider using rideshare services instead of driving. The key is to avoid being behind the wheel while under the influence.

My Texas Daily recently reported that police in Denton have arrested a man for driving while under the influence of alcohol after he struck a police cruiser over the weekend.

On Sunday, June 28th, two officers with the Northeast Police Department had pulled over another suspected DUI driver along US Highway 30. After the driver was arrested, one of the officers left with the suspect.  Shortly after the second officer conducted a final inventory before the suspect’s vehicle was to be towed from the scene, a second suspected DUI driver rammed his car into the police cruiser.

According to a statement issued by the Northeast Police Department, the second suspected DUI driver did not have his headlights on when he rear-ended the police cruiser.

The officer, who had been protecting the tow driver, was uninjured in the crash.

The second crash is currently under investigation by the City of Denton Police Department.
