Student Indicted in DUI Crash
A 21-year-old university student has been indicted in connection with the deaths of a man and his unborn child. Police believe that the woman caused the crash because she was driving while under the influence of alcohol.
According to court records, Shana Elliott was indicted on two counts of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle and one count of intoxication assault with a vehicle last month.
Investigators say that Elliot had been driving home after a float trip on the river in San Marcos on August 2nd when her car suddenly veered across the center line and collided with another vehicle.
In the vehicle were Kristian Guerrero and her husband, Fabian Guerrero-Moreno. Fabian was killed in the collision while Kristian Guerrero, who was pregnant at the time, was injured. The unborn child that Guerrero was carrying died as the result of injuries sustained in the accident.
If convicted of the charges against her, Elliott faces up to approximately 20 years in prison.
