Two Crashes May Have Been Due To Overcorrection

An unusual crash in Flower Mound has left police searching for answers. CBS reported on the incident.

The accident happened on the 2700 block of Garden Ridge Boulevard in Flower Mound. When police found the car, it was fully burnt. The initial investigation showed that the car jumped a curb and hit several trees before catching fire.

The police found one body in the car and his remains have not been identified yet.

In another crash, this time in Mineral Wells, CBS reported on an injured man who flipped his Dodge Ram pickup in Wise County. Two people in that crash went to the hospital. For unknown reasons, the driver of the pickup overcorrected on US Highway 81 after running off the shoulder and flipped several times.

Overcorrection is a panic reaction to a dangerous situation on the road. The shock of running off the shoulder can make a driver jerk the wheel too far. This can cause vehicles to flip or run off the other side of the road. If you find yourself on the shoulder, don’t panic. Concentrate first on putting the vehicle back on a straight line and slowing down even if you have to straddle the solid white line to do it. When the road is clear and you have control of the vehicle again, carefully merge back into the proper lane and regain speed.
