Man Accused Of DWI Crashed Into Dallas County Deputy’s Vehicle

We’ve all had bad days, but some bad days seem like something straight out of a movie. Fox 4 News has a good example of one alleged DUI driver having a very bad day.

A 31-year-old man is facing DWI and weapons charges after he crashed into the back of a Dallas County Sheriff’s Office deputy’s vehicle. The crash happened on Sunday just before 1:20 am at I-35 and Mockingbird Lane.

The report states that the driver was failing to maintain their lane and crashed into the back of the deputy’s car, which had its emergency lights on at the time. The officer was performing a traffic stop at the time of the crash. Another officer was in the vehicle when it was hit. He fell out of the car.

The crash was hard enough that the driver was trapped in the vehicle. Officers had to break the window to get him out. He was in serious condition. While the police were extracting him, they also found a stolen hand gun in plain view on the front passenger seat.

Later, he was arrested for DWI and unlawful carrying of a weapon. The report does not state if a blood draw was taken at the hospital. The officer that fell out of the car was checked by local paramedics and released.
