Underage Driver Crashes Into Small Crowd In Grand Prairie, Kills One

A car in Grand Prairie plowed into two women pushing strollers last Sunday. The driver was a 13-year-old boy. CBS explains.

Just after 9 p.m. on Sunday on East Main Street, a car crashed into the small crowd walking on the south frontage road. The underage driver was going west on the road and struck all five of the people. One person died at the scene. Two other adults and two infats were taken to the hospital. They are believed to have non-life-threatening injuries.

This is the 9th traffic fatality in Grand Prairie. Police are still investigating why a 13-year-old was behind the wheel of the car. The report does not say if the boy was taken into custody or released to his parents.

This is a very unusual accident. Young teens may be eager to drive, but few go so far as to take a vehicle before they have learned how to drive. The parents of the teen and/or the owner of the car may be liable for this accident.

Our condolences go out to the victims. We hope they are able to receive enough compensaion for their injuries and loss. This was not a freak accident, but an irresponsible act by a child. Now the teen will have to live with this for the rest of his life.
