Driver Destroys Front Porch Then Flees

It would seem that people aren’t the only potential victims of a hit-and-run crash.  For one couple in Plano, his home ended up damaged after a driver ran into his front porch and drove away.

In a story appearing on the CBS local affiliate station in Dallas, homeowner Peter Vu watched on a video being sent to his smartphone a driver that circled his home.  Vu had been waiting for a package to be delivered to his home and thought that the vehicle could have been delivering it.

The doorbell camera that was broadcasting to Vu ’s phone instead showed the horrifying sight of what he thought was a delivery vehicle drive up into his yard and onto his front porch.  At one point, the driver got out of the vehicle, before getting back in and driving away.

While most drivers would have at least given the courtesy of leaving a note, the driver who destroyed the front porch of Vu’s home didn’t bother.  “It’s cowardly,” Vu said. He does understand, however, about someone being scared and fleeing the scene but hopes that the police will find the driver.

Thankfully, Vu and his wife have insurance on the home that they purchased two years ago and the damage will likely be covered.  Still, it would have been nice if the person responsible would take responsibility.

A neighbor who had been home at the time of the hit-and-run crash into Vu’s home was able to describe the Toyota van and get the license plate number.  The information has been turned over to police and the driver is being sought for questioning.
