Two Cars Submerged In Swimming Pools In Less Than A Week
Because our Texas summers tend to be hotter than many other areas of the country, having a swimming pool to cool off can be a welcome respite. However, going for a dip in the pool while behind the wheel probably isn’t a good idea.
The Dallas News reported on its website on Tuesday that police in Arlington have responded to a second call of a vehicle submerged in a swimming pool in less than a week.
The first call happened last Wednesday, August 12th, in the 3500 block of South Center Street when a motorist driving under the influence of alcohol crashed through the backyard fence and into the swimming pool. The woman was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol. No one was injured in the crash.
On Monday, police and firefighters responded to another call of a vehicle submerged in a pool in North Arlington. The home was located in the 1000 block of West Beady Road. Investigators say that the driver of the Grand Cherokee may have simply lost control or fallen asleep at the wheel. They are reported to have suffered only minor injuries in the accident. Fortunately, no one inside the home at the time was injured in the second crash.
To get the SUV out of the pool, a dive team was called to the scene. Extraction crews were having difficulty maneuvering around power lines to get the vehicle out of the pool.
Both incidents are currently under Fortunately no one was injured in the second crash.
