Truck Hauling Toilet Paper Tips Over, Catches Fire

The coronavirus outbreak has caused shortages all over the country. One trucking accident has made the shortages just a little bit worse. 1080 KRLD reports on the crash.

In Dallas County, a tractor-trailer crashed into the meridian and caught fire on I-20 near Hutchins. The crash happened in the early morning hours. According to the driver, the truck hit a bump and rolled over near the I-45 interchange.

The driver escaped the flames, but the cargo was not so lucky. It was carrying a load of toilet paper. Toilet paper has been in short supply thanks to hoarding by the public. Rolls were scattered across the freeway.

While it may be a little funny since no one was hurt, road debris is a cause of accidents. Anything in the road can be the cause for a crash if it bumps a vehicle off course. THe faster they’re going, the more it can push the vehicle into an uncontrolled state.

The many wheels of a semi-truck do help keep it stable, but depending on what was hit, it can be enough to cause tipping like in this case. There is no indication that the driver was speeding at the time of the crash. Hopefully the driver can pick up another load of toilet paper soon and finisht he delivery.
